JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Director. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: compensation, benefits, performance management, onboarding, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the administration of the compensation program
  • Monitors the performance evaluation program
  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Develops and maintains Affirmative Action Program
  • Responsible for new Associate onboarding.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned or required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum of 3-years of HR experience with concentration areas in compensation, benefits and affirmative action
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related area (Business Management, Finance, and/or Human Resources) strongly preferred
  • Strong project management experience
  • CEBS, PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Knowledge of HR laws and related areas
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence others
  • Ability to interact comfortably with Senior Management, Associates, Customers, Government Officials, and Vendors

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
Within company and departmental guidelines preset by respective Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent interface with internal customers
Regular exposure to warehouse and shop environment
Frequent travel with some overnight stays required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand, talk, walk and hear.  The Associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to write, input data and handle materials.  The Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to focus.  This position will be performed in an office, classroom environment, or in the field.  The position requires frequent travel by automobile and occasional travel by airplane.  During site visits and training sessions, position may require work in a shop or warehouse environment with exposure to hazards of equipment movement and chemicals.
